When authorities tapped the phone of an upstate New York woman suspected of helping her father kill her mother, they didn’t realize how easy it would beto catch the pair plotting.
“Tell them ‘I’m sorry, I’ve got a counseling appointment back in New Jersey tonight, I’ve gotta get to my counseling appointment,’ " suspect Lloyd Neurauter instructed his daughter Karrie Neurauter, then 19, about the next time she spoke to police investigating the killing of his wife, Michele Neurauter.

A Kansas father has been found guilty ofmurderinghis 2-year-old daughter, who prosecutors said in court died of malnutrition while he was “intoxicated and passed out for days on end.”
Exon had told the dispatcher his daughter had been “starving herself,” and authorities found five empty liquor bottles in his bedroom, theTopeka Capital-Journalreports.

A father has died and three boys have been rescued in Oregon after the group fell over a cliff while hiking, authorities say.
Ryan Acord, 36, of Grant’s Pass, was hiking with his wife, two sons, and a friend of one of the boys, when they went over the cliff north of Secret Beach, according to astatementfrom Curry County Sheriff John Ward.
“They followed Google Maps and it pointed them in the wrong spot and they thought they were in the right spot so they parked and went down the wrong trail,” Ward toldNBC affiliate KOBI.

A man died trying to rescue his daughter after she was pulled out to sea during a trip to a California beach on Christmas Eve.
Officials said the man and his daughter were playing in a lagoon at Carmel River State Beach on Tuesday afternoon when the girl’s inflatable raft drifted toward the Carmel River, which leads into the ocean, according to theLos Angeles Times. The man swam after his daughter as first responders were called to the scene.
