A New Mexico man is accused of beating his daughter to death after becoming angry that she stopped doing her homework, PEOPLE confirms.
When officers attempted to find out what happened to the girl, the report alleges Reynolds told them multiple stories, including that he was falling asleep with the girl when her heart stopped beating, according to the report.
Detectives checked the girl’s injuries and noted there was extensive bruising across her back, including “bruising to her right abdomen [which] appeared consistent with the tread from a shoe,” according to the report.

The father of a 4-month-old girl has been accused of beating his daughter to death, authorities said this week.
Jacob Kubai was arrested in Central Florida on Tuesday and now faces four charges in connection with the death of his daughter, Willow Kubai, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said ina news releaseon Wednesday.

An Indiana husband accused with his wifeof abandoning their adopted daughterin an apartment alone before fleeing to Canada has spoken out, alleging the daughter is a “sociopath” and a “con artist” who is actually an adult.
Appearing on ABC’sGood Morning America, Michael Barnett, 43, said that he and his wife, Kristine, 45, thought they were adopting an 8-year-old girl from Ukraine back in 2010.
The daughter has a form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal, and two years after the adoption, the Barnetts had the daughter’s age changed to 22.

An Illinois father accused of drowning his three kids during a custodial visit allegedly left a note for his estranged wife saying, “If I can’t have them, neither can you.”
According toCBS News, prosecutors revealed the note during the bond hearing for 35-year-old Jason E. Karels, who authorities believe is responsible for the drowning deaths of his children: Bryant, 5, Cassidy, 3, and 2-year-old Gideon, in a bathtub at his Round Lake Beach home.

Hours after an Alabama couple pleaded for the safe return of their missing infant son, the boy’s father has been charged with his murder.
On Wednesday, Caleb Michael Whisnand, 32, was charged with reckless manslaughter for the death of 5-week-old son Caleb “C.J.” Whisnand Jr., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Hours earlier, Whisnand and the boy’s mother, 28-year-old Angela Nicole Gardner, spoke to the media during a press conference and pleaded for help in finding their son.
