Craig Melvinis turning his loss into an opportunity to save lives.
TheTodayco-anchor recently spoke to PEOPLE about hosting his upcoming second annual Bottom’s Up Invitational, raising awareness and funds forcolon cancerin partnership with theColorectal Cancer Alliance.
The 44-year-old introduced the event in honor of his brother Lawrence Meadows, who died in 2020 after a years-long battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Looking back, Melvin admits that a lack of knowledge is ultimately what led to his older brother’s death.

Craig Morganis stepping up for his country once again.
The country music star, 59, surprised his fans on Saturday night when he enlisted and was sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve live onstage during his set at theGrand Ole Opryin Nashville.
“I’m excited to once again serve my country and be all I can be in hopes of encouraging others to be a part of something greater than ourselves,” Morgan said in a statement sent to PEOPLE.

“We would start talking about certain things that have happened in my life, and especially after the loss of our son, after Jerry died, I’d meet people and they’d say, ‘I don’t understand how you have the attitude you have, after having lost your son,’ " Morgan, 57, tells PEOPLE in a phone interview from his “off the grid” cabin, deep in the bush in Alaska.
