The developments came hours after multiple outlets reported that the two brothers who werearrested and released without chargesin the case have reportedly claimed that theEmpirestar paid them to stage the incident.
According toCBS Evening News, a police source told the outlet on Saturday that the brothers said Smollett paid them to participate in the alleged incident and purchase the rope that was found around the star’s neck.

An early morning fire erupted along the Tennessee River in Alabama Monday, killing at least two people and injuring seven more, according to multiple reports.
The blaze broke out just after midnight as people in the Jackson County Park riverboat community in Scottsboro slept, leaving nine people unaccounted for, Scottsboro Fire Chief Gene Mecklaus toldCBS News.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Rocky Harnen told CBS affiliateWHNTthat authorities expected to have fatalities, and so far, two people have been confirmed dead.

According to the organizer, Galindo’s life was “unexpectedly taken.”
According to Waukegan police, on Sunday morning, Alvarado-Ramirez made a 911 call reporting that he had found his ex-wife unresponsive inside a vehicle on the 500 block of Lakehurst Road. Upon arrival, officers found Galindo dead inside a sedan on the same block as Alvarado-Ramirez’s home.
