Melanie Coleman’s organs will be donated after shedied following a freak gymnastics accidentover the weekend, her family said.
In a statement toWTNH, Coleman’s family said, “We are confident that her spirit, laughter, and humor will live on through the ones who loved her most, as well as through the gift of life to those who needed it most through organ donation.”
Coleman, a junior on Southern Connecticut State University’s gymnastics team, was training on Friday, Nov.

A pup from Connecticut who escaped a scary situation found a forever home with his rescuers.
East Haven Mayor Joseph Caforaannounced on Mondaythat the beagle was rescued last week from a “distressing situation” after being left alone,locked in a hot car.
After the pup’s rescue made headlines, Cafora said his office received several calls asking that the town adopt the rescue dog. With the town’s encouragement, theEast Haven Fire Departmentadopted the dog as the firehouse’snew support pet, per WFSB.

A 15-year-old high school football player died during practice this week in Connecticut, authorities said.
Coaches provided CPR until emergency personnel arrived. Rivera was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, where he was pronounced dead, per the news station.
Windsor superintendent Terrell Hill told WFSB that the athlete was “not engaged in any football drills, or tackling” at the time of his medical emergency.
