A “gorgeous” male cat was rescued in Connecticut after being thrown over the side of a bridge in a box, according to local animal control officers.
The Bridgeport, Connecticut Animal Control shared the news in aFacebook poston Wednesday, explaining that a 10-year-old boy had flagged down a police officer after he saw an adult male throw the box over a bridge and into the water below.
“The young boy heard meowing coming from the box that was completely taped up and tied in a garbage bag,” officers explained in the post.

An 11-year-old boy has died in Connecticut following a fire at his family’s home on Valentine’s Day.
Officials said Brien Karlson, a sixth-grade student at John Read Middle School in Redding, wasseriously injuredTuesday night when his home on Diamond Hill Roadwent up in flames, according to CT Insider and NBC affiliate WVIT. Thefire broke outaround 11:30 p.m., according to fire officials.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we share news that Brien died this afternoon after a courageous fight,” wrote McKinnon, who heads the Easton, Redding and Region 9 School Districts.

A 6-year-old Connecticut boy has been left with third-degree burns to his face and other parts of his body after his neighbor allegedly set him on fire.
Little Dominick Krankall remains in hospital after suffering horrific burns in what his family says was the result of a bully’s attack on Sunday.
“The kid covered a ball in gasoline, lit it on fire, and threw it at him,” Deegan alleged.

A university in Southern Connecticut is mourning the loss of one of their student-athletes after she was involved in a freak accident while practicing her sport and tragically died two days later.
Melanie Coleman, a junior on Southern Connecticut State University’s gymnastics team, was training on Friday, Nov. 8 when she sustained a serious injury, theuniversity announced on their website.
The Milford native, 20, who was working towards a degree in nursing, sadly died just two days later at Yale-New Haven hospital on Sunday, Nov.
