According tothe Monroe Sun,WFSB, andthe Valley Independent Sentinel, Connie Crowell and her son, Jack, drowned on July 31, 2020, in what investigators now say was a murder-suicide.
The mother and son lived in Monroe. Jack graduated from Masuk High School in 2017,the Sunreports.
The determination was announced in a press statement from Seymour Deputy Police Chief Roberto Rinaldi, the outlets report.
“On the day of the incident, a boater who was in the area, observed the vehicle go into the water and went to assist and provide rescue efforts,” Rinaldi’s statement reads.

Ewen Dewitt, 42, of Roxbury, has been charged with murder, risk of injury and reckless endangerment in connection the death of 40-year-old Julie Minogue, according to theMilford Police Department.Dewitt is also charged with violation of a protection order and restraining order, the latter of which was granted just five days before the killing, authorities said.
Police said the victim’s 3-year-old son was also inside the home during the alleged slaying, but was unharmed.

Police are investigating the case of a premature newborn who was abandoned on the hood of a vehicle in Mansfield, Conn.
“The male was described as Hispanic, heavy set with short black hair, wearing a black long sleeved T-shirt and black jogger-style pants,” troopers said, perWFSB.
The unidentified man reportedly entered a dark-colored vehicle before fleeing the scene.
“The female reported as she returned to her vehicle, the male got into a dark colored vehicle and fled the area,” Connecticut State Police said in a news release, per WFSB.

A cat is on the road to recovery after being left inside a cat carrier at a Connecticut rest stop off a busy highway on Jan. 24.
Veterinarians later determined that the black-and-white feline, who rescuers named Highway, had two broken legs and trauma to one eye and was abandoned with these injuries.
