Confused Sea Lion Spends 4-Day Vacation on Land Before Returning to Ocean with a Little Help

Photo: Sitka Fire Deptartment/SWNS According toSWNS, the 1,700-lb. male lolled onto the shore of Sitka, Alaska, and somehow made his way onto a road 400 meters away Sitka Fire Deptartment/SWNS It took a village to get the creature out of the woods and back into the water. Firefighters, local police and NOAA scientists all worked together to coax the sea lion from the trees into an open space. Unfortunately their efforts, which included using a water hose to attract the animal, failed.

Congress Avoids Government Shutdown by Passing Stopgap Spending Bill With $1.1 Billion for Zika Research

Photo: Alex Wong/Getty Images Congress has cleared a stopgap spending bill on Wednesday to fund the government through early December, narrowly making the Friday midnight deadline before federal agencies ran out of money, thus avoiding a government shutdown. Senators voted 72-26 and later the House voted 342-85 to pass the legislation. Earlier that morning, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) confirmed that a compromise had been reached when House leadership agreed to approve $220 million for the Flint water crisis.

Congress Committee Starts Investigation into Astroworld Organizer Live Nation to 'Prevent Future Tragedies'

Live Nation has since said it will cooperate with said investigation. “Concert attendees have provided firsthand accounts of being crushed within the crowd as it surged towards the stage,” the letter read.

Congress Holds Bipartisan Candlelight Vigil to Mark 500,000 COVID Deaths

One day after the U.S. death toll from theCOVID-19 pandemicpassed 500,000, and nearly one year after the country’sfirst COVID-19 deathwas reported, Congress held a candlelight vigil on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Tuesday evening in honor of those killed in America.
