Moms flocked to help Smith, and now the little ones have a new lease on life.

Holly and Eric Genzen, of Des Moines, Iowa, had only been dating for a year when Eric was diagnosed with skin cancer.
Adds Holly: “It was a shock … It was hard.”
Eric, now 36, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2011. As he endured medical treatments — including prescriptions and painful surgeries — over the years, the couple’s future took a back seat as they focused on Eric’s health.

A teenage girl has died after drowning at an Ohio water park on Tuesday.
Deputies responded to reports of a juvenile drowning at Land of Illusion’s Aqua Adventures Waterpark in Middletown around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the Butler County Sheriff’s Officesaid in a news release.
When they arrived, the park’s staff was attempting to find 14-year-old Mykiara Jones after she had disappeared under the water. About 30 minutes after she went down, a lifeguard was able to pull her from the water, according to authorities.

Nearly $157,000 has been raised to help World War II veteran Paul Roberts get back up on his feet following a fire that destroyed his New Jersey home.
“He opened [his bathroom] door and saw black,” a description on the page explained. “He thought the lights went out. He took one breath in and realized it was a fire, so he dropped to the floor and crawled out the back door.
