According toUSA Today, the so-called “cocaine hippos” have become an invasive species in the South American country, where more than 130 are now settled into a favorable habitat that stretches beyond Hacienda Napoles, Escobar’s former estate, along the Magdalena River.
Hippos are aggressive, territorial animals that can weigh up to three tons and are among the world’s most dangerous animals, perNational Geographic. They are also responsible for an estimated 500 deaths around the world each year,NPRreported.

Thirteen years after being released from guerillas who held her hostage for more than six years, French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt faced her captors this week, according to multiple news outlets.
TheAssociated Press,BBCandFrance 24report that Betancourt, a former Colombian presidential candidate, delivered remarks to ex-combatants as part of a meeting held under Colombia’s 2016 peace accord, which put a halt to years of civil war between armed groups and the government.

Soccer player James Rodriguez is being credited with helping to save his opponent’s life during an in-game medical emergency.
According to a post fromESPN FC, Rodriguez — a member of Al-Rayyan of the Qatar Stars League and the Colombian national team — rushed to the aid of player Ousmane Coulibaly after Coulibaly went into cardiac arrest during a match.
A photograph posted of the nail-biting moment showed Rodriguez holding 32-year-old Coulibaly’s head while on the field.
