Aidan Zellmer, the Colorado teen whopleaded guilty to murdering his 10-year-old friendwith a metal pipe last month after molesting her, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 40 years, PEOPLE confirms.
In February, Zellmer, 17, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Kiaya Campbell on June 7, 2017, in the city of Thornton. As part of his plea, prosecutors agreed to drop additional charges including sexual assault.

Colorado Police have arrested three people in connection with the death of a 5-year-old girl who drank water from a bong containing methamphetamine.
Sophia Larson died on December 11 while she was staying with her mother, Stephanie Alvarado.
Witnesses told police that Sophia began seeing “monsters and demons” after ingesting the water, but Alvarado allegedly did not take Sophia to the hospital right away. According to the witnesses, Alvarado allegedly did not seek treatment because she did not want to “lose [Sophia] in the system.

The couple, who live in Boulder, were engaged in December and have two children, ages 7 and 9.

The husband ofa pregnant Colorado woman and their two daughterswho have been missing since Monday was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the case, PEOPLE confirms.
Shanann Watts, 34, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and her children Celeste, 3, and Bella, 4, went missing on Monday from their Colorado home.
On Wednesday night, the Frederick Police Department, working with the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation, arrested Chris Watts, who had given multiple media interviews pleading for their safe return.
