William “Rick” Singer, the man who orchestrated a massive nationalcollege admissions scam, has beensentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Singer ran a decade-long scheme to help high school students fake their way into elite colleges and universities like Yale, USC, and Georgetown. The scam unraveled thanks, in part, to the government’s Operation Varsity Blues, leading to charges against 50-plus co-conspirators, including celebrity parents likeFelicity HuffmanandLori Loughlin.

Attorneys for Loughlin and several other defendants appeared in court on Monday for status hearings, and their next court date is on October 2. According to a source close to Loughlin, the long wait is excruciating.
“People who are not in the legal field often don’t understand how long these things take,” says the source.

A wealthy Chinese family allegedly involved in thehigh-profile college admissions scamreportedly paid $6.5 million to secure their daughter a spot at Stanford University.
TheNew York Times, citing sources familiar with the case, say that the Beijing-based family paid the staggering sum to admitted scam ringleader Rick Singer. Their daughter was allegedly admitted to Stanford in 2017. A spokesman for Stanford tells theLos Angeles Timesthat the college rescinded the daughter’s admission in April and she is no longer a student there.

Three more victims have been identified of the nine who died on Sunday in the tragic California helicopter crash that killedNBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
John Altobelli, the head baseball coach at Orange Coast College, was also onboard the aircraft —alongside wife Keri Altobelli and their daughter, Alyssa Altobelli, the school confirmed in a statement on their website.
Alyssa was a teammate of Gianna’s. John, 56, and Keri are also parents to daughter Alexis Altobelli and son J.
