Coach John Altobelli Honored Ahead of the Orange Coast College Pirates' Baseball Season Opener

When the Orange Coast College baseball team, the Pirates, gathered at Wendell Pickens Field to begin their 2020 season on Tuesday, a very important member of the team was missing: Coach John Altobelli, who tragically died with eight others in a helicopter crash on Sunday morning. John, his wife Keri and their daughter Alyssa passed away alongsideNBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, as they were all on their way to a basketball tournament in Thousand Oaks, California when their helicopter crashed, killing everyone on board.

Patrick Mouratoglou, who has been Williams' coach since 2012, doesn’t believe retirement is on the horizon for the athlete, however. “I don’t think she will stop until she at least wins a Grand Slam, because she came back to win Grand Slams,” Mouratoglou tells PEOPLE, referring to the tennis star’s return after giving birth to daughter Alexis in 2017.

Coach Rescues Swimmer After Athlete Faints in Pool During World Championships

The incident occurred Wednesday at the FINA World Aquatic Championships in Budapest, Hungary, theOlympicsreported. Anita Alvarez, 25, had just completed her performance in the women’s solo free routine when she started to sink. Her coach, Andrea Fuentes, immediately jumped into the water — fully clothed — to save her. “I jumped into the water again because I saw that no one, no lifeguard, was diving in. I got a little scared because she wasn’t breathing, but now she’s fine,” Fuentes toldMarcanewspaper, according to the Olympics.
