Clarence Avant, legendary music executive and film producer, has died. He was 92.
Avant, who was hailed as godfather of Black entertainment, died at his home in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, his family confirmed to PEOPLE.
“It is with a heavy heart that the Avant/Sarandos family announce the passing of Clarence Alexander Avant,” Avant’s children Nicole and Alex and son-in-law Ted Sarandos said in a statement.

Supreme Court JusticeClarence Thomasreportedly plans toamend his financial disclosure formsto include a previously unreported real estate deal he made with GOP mega-donor Harlan Crow.
CNN reports that Thomas will amend his 2014 forms to include the sale of three Georgia properties to Crow, which a source tells the outlet the justice previously didn’t report because he lost money on the sales.
The news of Thomas' intention to amend the forms comes days afterProPublicareported on the justice’s friendly relationship with Crow, which came with luxury trips in addition to real estate deals.

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court JusticeClarence Thomas, accepted thousands of dollars in secret payments from a right-wing judicial activist — who specifically emphasized that her name be kept off the documents reporting the payments — according to a new report.
According to the outlet, Conway’s firm, the Polling Company,paid Ginni’s firm, the Judicial Education Project, $80,000 between June 2011 and June 2012 — with another $20,000 expected before the end of 2012.
