On Monday, Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden shared the exciting news that the Ohio zoo introduced Fiona and her mother, Bibi, to a new hippo, an 18-year-old male named Tucker. The trio shared the same pool and got along well during their first meeting.

Cincinnati Zoo Mourns the Death of Male Giraffe Following Procedure for Chronic Lameness

Photo: Cincinnati Zoo Kimba, a beloved 12-year-old giraffe that resided in the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, has died. According to astatementshared on the zoo’s website Monday, the Zoo Volunteer Observer (ZVO) team had been monitoring the giraffe barn for weeks and called vets when they saw Kimba had fallen to the ground at 1 a.m. Sunday. Cincinnati Zoo’s curator of mammals Christina Gorsuch said that the giraffe team was “devastated” in the wake of Kimba’s death.

Cincinnati Zoo Names Penguin After Quarterback Joe Burrow Ahead of Super Bowl: 'Cup O' Joe'

The zoo announced in a Feb. 8news releasethat they have named their newly-hatched penguin chick Cup O' Joe Burrow after Cincinnati Bengals player Joe Burrow. The chick, who is now five weeks old, was named after the quarterback just before he’s set to play in this weekend’s Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams.

Cincinnati Zoo's Fiona the Hippo is 'Best Buds' with New Male Hippo Tucker

They’re buds,” a senior keeper and one of Fiona’s primary caretakers, Jenna Wingate, toldWLWTon Tuesday. Wingate added that the 4-year-old female hippo — born six weeks prematurely and 25 pounds lighter than the lowest recorded weight for her species — may have even come on a little too strong toward 18-year-old Tucker when the animals first met.

Cincinnati Zoo's Nanny Dog Comes Out of Retirement to Care for Cheetah Cub

Blakely is back! Just in time for International Cat Day, Blakely, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s veteran nanny dog, has come out of retirement to care for a cheetah cub. According to the Ohio zoo, three cheetahs were born to first-time cheetah mom Neena on July 7 at the zoo’s cheetah breeding facility in Clermont County . Unfortunately, only one of the cubs survived. “Cheetah moms do not receive enough stimulation from a single cub to produce an adequate milk supply, so the zoo’s expert neonate team stepped in,”a release from the zoosaid about what happened next.
