He was 83.Kercheval passed away on Sunday, April 21, a spokesperson at the Frist Funeral Home in his hometown of Clinton, Indiana,toldDeadline.At this time, a cause of death for the actor remains unclear. Representatives for Kercheval did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.Kercheval’s passion for acting began in 1954 when he dropped out of Indiana University after one semester in 1954 to accept the lead in a Terre Haute production ofKiss Me, Kate,he toldPEOPLEin 1981.

Katherine Heigl couldn’t feel better about turning 40!
In honor of her milestone birthday, theSuitsstar revealed she was “pretty damn thrilled” about celebrating her 40th.
“Well…I am officially 40 years old,” the actress shared via Instagram on Sunday, posting a photo of herself posing with large silver balloons signifying her age.
“I know you’re going [to] think I’m full of it but the truth is…I’m pretty damn thrilled to be 40,” she remarked, adding that her mother “always” likes to remind her that getting older is better than the alternative.
