The 48-year-old screenwriter said the prognosis looks good at Thursday’s premiere ofMama’s Boy,a documentary adaptationof his 2019 memoir.
“What’s been really challenging is not being able to use my mind,” Black saidin an interview withVariety. “And I didn’t share it publicly until I was at a place where I was able to be a little creative again — at least for a few hours a day in the morning with breaks.

Dustin Lance Blackis opening up about a “serious head injury” he recently suffered.
On Monday, the Oscar-winning screenwriter, 48, revealed his health struggles on Instagram and explained that he’s been recovering for the past month.
“So I vanished for a while… A month ago I sustained a serious head injury that put me out of commission,” Black wrote. “Showing little improvement, my doctors ordered me to shut off my brain in hopes of it healing.

Dutch motorcycle star Victor Steeman has died. He was 22.
Steeman was competing in World Supersports 300 (WorldSSP300) Championship in Portugal when he was “involved in a multi-rider incident at Turn 14” during Saturday’s opening race, the global governing body of motorcycle racing — Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) —confirmed Tuesday.
“Despite the best efforts of the circuit’s medical staff, marshals and hospital staff, Steeman has sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Victor Steeman’s mother has died just days after his death.
Thedutch motorcycle rider died Tuesdayafter suffering injuries from a race crash. He was 22.
His mother, Flora van Limbeek, thendied of a heart attackat her home in Lathum — a village in the Netherlands — on Thursday, local site Race Sport reported.
Van Limbeek had just returned home afterher son’s death, per Motorcycle Sports.
Race Sport said attempts to revive van Limbeek were unsuccessful, and she died at the age of 59.

Netherlands prime minister Mark Rutte has apologized for his country’s “ugly, painful, and even downright shameful” historic ties to slavery.
Speaking in a 20-minute address at the National Archive in The Hague on Monday, Rutte apologized “for the actions of the Dutch state in the past: posthumously to all enslaved people worldwide who have suffered from those actions, to their daughters and sons, and to all their descendants into the here and now,“reported NPR.
