“We have some very sad news to tell you today,” Lemon began. “Our colleague and friend and longtime distinguished CNN journalist Drew Griffin has passed away.”
The anchor teared up as he recounted the career of his colleague of over a decade. “We’re going to honor him a little bit later on,” Lemon said before becoming too choked up to continue.

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE a few days before the wedding, the grooms revealed they weren’t stressed about the big day.

The former CNN anchor and the news network reached a separation deal that would pay Lemon approximately $24.5 million, reportsTheWrap.The total is reportedly the amount of money Lemon, 57, was set to receive if his final contract ended in 3 and a half years.
“While we never comment on specifics of any employee contract, this story is incorrect,” a CNN representative tells PEOPLE on Tuesday.
