Dancing with the Starshas unveiled its celebrity competitors for season 28, but hostTom Bergeronisn’t pleased with one of the selections.
Just hours after ABCannounced the caston Wednesday, Bergeron, 64, posted a lengthy message on Twitter, revealing that he met with theDWTSexecutive producer several months ago and tried to steer the show away from politics.
“Chief among them was my hope that DWTS, in its return following an unprecedented year-hiatus, would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably decisive booking from ANY political affiliations,” Bergeron wrote, adding that he “left that lunch convinced we were in agreement.

Derek Houghhas tested positive for abreakthrough caseofCOVID-19.
TheDancing with the Starsjudge, 36, revealed the news in anInstagramvideo Tuesday.
“Even though I’ve been fully vaccinated, I’ve just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID,” he began. “I just found out and I feel okay. I feel strong. I’m currently taking advice from medical professionals to get better as fast as I can.”
He continued, “I’m currently in quarantine.

Dancing with the Starswill no longer air on ABC.
On Friday, it was announced that seasons 31 and 32 will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the U.S. and Canada starting this fall.DWTSwill be the first live series to debut on the streaming service.
The dancing competition series first premiered on ABC in June 2005 and its 30th season concluded in November 2021 with champions Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach.
