Soon, pet stores in Dallas, Texas, will no longer be able to sell dogs or cats due to a new ordinance introduced to crack down on puppy mills.
On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council Committee passed the Dallas Humane Pet Store Ordinance, which bans the sale of cats and dogs in pet stores and encourages stores to work with animal rescues and shelters to offer pets for adoption.

A Texas beauty queen was reported missing Tuesday after she didn’t return home from her morning walk.
Lashun Massey, 38, was last seen walking near Lake Lago de Claire in Irving, Texas, between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to theIrving Police Department. She was wearing a black hoodie and checkered pajama pants.
Her husband, Jeff Massey, reported her missing around 7:40 a.m. when she didn’t return from a usual early morning walk, police toldThe Dallas Morning News.

Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer accused of fatally shootingher neighbor in his own apartmentwas indicted on murder charges Friday, PEOPLE confirms.
The indictment came three months after Guyger fatally shot Botham Jean, 26, on Sept. 6, after she returned home from work. Guyger hadinitially been charged with manslaughter.
The 30-year-old told investigators at the time she accidentally entered Jean’s Dallas apartment thinking it was hers and believedJean to be an intruder.

Former Dallas Cowboys player Drew Pearson was visibly frustrated and emotional after being passed over for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week.
