Dan + Shayare coming in hot as first-time coaches onThe Voice.

In a coaches junket ahead of the season 25 premiere on Monday, the country music duo opened up about their expectations for the new season — and revealed whether they anticipate any fights with their joint chair.

“It’s gonna break up the band,” Dan Smyers, 36, jokes to PEOPLE.

Shay Mooney, 32, adds, “That’s gonna be it for us.”

This season will mark the first timeThe Voicefeatures ajoint chairfor the double coaches.

In all seriousness, Smyers says, “No, this awesome. This is such a cool opportunity for us and we’ve been fans of the show for a long time. To get here with [fellow coaches]John [Legend],Reba [McEntire]andChance [the Rapper]– we’re such fans of them as artists and as people.”

“We’re still trying to figure out the two chairs and one button thing but once somebody hits that button you’re turning around either way so you gotta get used to it,” he adds.

The duo — who appeared as advisors on the show in season 20 — also joke they may have to put on a fake smile if one hits the button and the other disagrees.

“You better have a smile on your face when you turn around like, ‘This is what I was hoping we’d do,'” Mooney says with a smile on his face.

He continues, “I feel like we have the power of two. We have the perfect democracy between us. I feel like if we both love something, it’s going to be really great. We use that to our advantage.”

On what they bring to the table as coaches, Mooney says they have an “in-the-box-thing” and are excited to get into the studio and bounce ideas with their contestants.

At the end of the day, however, they’re excited to be a part of it and are acknowledge that they’re “learning.”

The Voicepremieres Monday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
