Dame Helen Mirren Has Spoken on Movie Streaming: 'I Love Netflix, But F— Netflix!'

The Queen has spoken.

Helen Mirren appeared onstage at CinemaCon Tuesday where she chimed in on the ongoing debate between directors wanting their movies seen in theaters and streaming sites like Netflix getting in on the game.

“I love Netflix, but f— Netflix!” Mirren said while the crowd cheered,according toVariety. “There is nothing like sitting in the cinema.”

Current Academy rules dictate that movies be screened for at least a week in Los Angeles during the year of eligibility in order to qualify for the awards.

Iconic director Steven Spielberg has been leading the fight against Netflix since last year,when he agreed with the Cannes Film Festivalbanning streaming movies from competing for its top prize.
