A father is speaking out after his 12-year-old daughterdied in a Massachusetts house fireon Saturday.

Jasmine Lane was found dead inside the home after the fire was knocked down at the home on Pearl Street in Middleborough early Saturday morning, according to a news release from Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.

Jasmine’s parents have since returned home from their trip, which was cut short when they learned of the deadly blaze.

Heavy fire was coming from both the first and second floors of the home when crews arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. local time, Cruz said. First responders attempted to gain access to the building and rescue the girl who was trapped, but were unable to do so due to the flames.

“She had so much potential," Jim told reporters Monday, “and for this to happen, our hearts are broken into a million pieces.”
