ACornell Universitystudent is accused of using the internet to threaten to rape and kill Jewish students on campus, federal authorities allege in apress release.

Patrick Dai, 21, a junior at the Ithaca, N.Y., school, was arrested Tuesday and charged with posting threats to kill or injure another using interstate communications, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York says.

In that same post, Dai said he would “bring an assault rifle to campus and shoot all” Jewish students, according to authorities.

If convicted, Dai could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He has a court appearance scheduled Wednesday, authorities say.

It is not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney.
