A Colorado woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to drive off a cliff with four children and two dogs in the car.

Jessica Dawn Garcia, 42, is facing four counts of attempted vehicular homicide and four counts of child abuse, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Police were able to track down Garcia’s white Ford Fiesta, which was at a stop, facing the wrong direction on the right-hand shoulder of the road at the west entrance of the monument. The sedan was located about 10 feet from the edge of the cliff and its “wheels were facing in the direction of the cliff.”

Officers saw “tire marks that suggested the car slammed on the brakes and slid forward, very close to the descent,” the affidavit reads.

Once there, an officer noted that “the first thing the woman said, unprompted, was ‘I wasn’t going to push them off,’” according to the affidavit.

At the scene, one of the children told an officer that Garcia “thought the earth was ‘corrupt’ and she wanted to make sure they could all ‘go home,’” the affidavit states.

When the child asked Garcia to clarify, she allegedly responded “with Jesus.”

Garcia is being held on a $5,000 bond. She has not yet been charged in the incident. The district attorney’s office didn’t return a call for comment.

It is unclear if Garcia has retained an attorney.

An arraignment is scheduled for April 16.
