Colo. Mom Accused of Killing Her 2 Kids, Attempting to Kill Third, Arrested in London Hotel

A Colorado womanwanted in connection with the murder of her two children and attempted murder of a thirdhas been arrested in a London hotel.

The 35-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday for an extradition hearing and has been remanded in custody until Jan. 29, per the statement.

Singler, of Colorado Springs, told the court she did not consent to being taken back to the U.S., according to U.K. newspaperThe Times.

According to apress releasefrom the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) issued on Dec. 28, Singler has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of child abuse and one count of assault in the first-degree.

Singler, who was last seen on Dec. 23, isaccused of killing two of her children— a daughter, 9, and son, 7 — as well as injuring her other daughter, 11.

Per the CSPD, authorities originally responded to a 911 call received at 12:29 a.m. local time on Dec. 19 reporting a burglary. After arriving on the scene, police discovered Singler and her 11-year-old daughter, both of whom had sustained injuries, and her two other children, who “were found deceased in the residence.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, police confirmed that Singler’s 11-year-old daughter “is recovering well and is safe and accounted for here in the Colorado Springs area.”

According to the release, the Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Unit also responded to the call and “assumed the investigation.” The police stated that, upon further investigation, “it was determined the initial report of a burglary was unfounded.”

PerThe Times, authorities reportedly discovered the 911 call about the burglary was made on the same day Singler learned that a judge had ordered police to locate her children after she failed to drop them off with their father, Kevin Wentz.

Singler and her former husband Wentz were allegedly locked in a custody battle, according to the publication. Full custody was granted to Singler with Wentz given visiting rights.

Wentz said Singler was meant to bring the children to a police station for a pre-arranged visit on Dec. 16, but she failed to arrive and was ordered to appear in court two days later.

According toThe Times, Singler’s family said in a statement, “Our focus is on God and His glory and our surviving niece. We hope everyone remembers the innocence involved in this and our sole goal is protecting her. Please pray for all involved for healing and peace as we seek answers.”
